GAME 1, October 12, 2006

Arguably not a game, (we’ll have to see how far I get toward a hundred a determine whether or not this should count, but I took my younger brother, Kevin, from Big Brothers of Utah to watch a scrimmage involving the Utah Jazz on October 12th. Predictably, the Jazz won. Green was matched against Purple. Deron Williams looked impressive. The game also featured a battle between back up point guard candidates Brian Chase, a firey 5’9” rookie from Virginia Tech and Dee Brown a second round pick from Williams’ alma mater Illinois. Brown made one beautiful play when he penetrated the lane went behind the back and dished for an easy basket to Carlos Boozer. Chase followed the play by hitting a 35 foot three pointer as time expired in the first quarter. Chase’s shooting was impressive and although a complete unknown to even myself hit three three point baskets in the scrimmage and looks to contend with Brown for a spot on the opening roster.
