Jazz vs. Rockets October 30, 2006
Again attending with my younger brother Kevin and his friend Cody, we watch the Jazz open the season with a nice home win against Houston. Our usual seats are in the absolute last row of the Delta Center, but we quickly move down to the middle of the upper level and then for the second half move right to the front row of the upper bowl. Deron Williams is a rapidly improving point guard. No, he wasn’t rookie of the year last year, but he is improving. He scores 17 points and adds 10 assists while Carlos Boozer is showing the form he showed in Cleveland and during his first year with the Jazz. Boozer scores 25. The Jazz open up a huge 20 plus point lead and hang on to win by 8 or 10. Derek Fisher hits a key three point basket and adds a much needed leadership presence on the court. It's easy to see why Karl Malone told the Jazz to get him if they could. He is clearly going to provide many of the intangibles the Jazz have sorely lacked since John Stockton and Karl Malone retired.
